Chapter 1: Introduction
It's that time of year again when I reveal the items I carry in my tech backpack. As someone passionate about technology and gadgets, I enjoy sharing and discovering various tools that enhance productivity. I also encourage you to share your own tech essentials in the comments!
Just a note: this article focuses more on my work bag. If you're curious about my everyday carry (EDC), feel free to check out my recent post on that topic.
Being an IT engineer, many items in my bag are work-related. Now, let’s dive into the contents of my tech backpack.
Section 1.1: My Backpack Choice
My go-to backpack is the Menos model from one of my favorite YouTubers, Liam Porritt. If you’re into productivity, I highly recommend checking out his channel. The Menos backpack is particularly excellent for commuters, offering a solid build and ample space despite its size. With a 20L capacity, it’s just right for my daily travels.
The main compartment opens 180 degrees for easy access, and there's a zipped pocket at the top for small items like keys and USB drives—both of which I find incredibly useful for my work. Below that, there are three smaller internal pockets, one of which is specifically for a water bottle. I use a Recycled Polyester Crook Handle umbrella from M&S on rainy days, and my water bottle, a thoughtful gift from my employer, fits perfectly and keeps my water cool.
The bag also features a padded compartment for my laptop and tablet, allowing me to store my work laptop and an 11" iPad Pro. A dedicated pocket for a power bank and an external USB charging port make it easy to charge my devices on the go. I use the Xiaomi Mi PowerBank 3 Ultra-compact 10000 mAh, which fits nicely and provides sufficient power for emergencies.
For those who commute via train, especially in the UK, investing in a reliable power bank is wise—trains can be unpredictable.

Section 1.2: Laptop and Tablet Essentials
I currently use a Dell Latitude 5330 laptop provided by my employer, which has 16GB of RAM, a 500GB SSD, and a 12th-generation Intel i7 processor. Its compact 13" size makes it ideal for working in tight spaces, like on a train tray table.
In addition to my laptop, I carry my 11" iPad Pro (2nd generation) from 2020, which I use for personal projects and my side hustle. I’ve equipped it with a PaperLike screen protector, essential for using an Apple Pencil. For typing, I rely on the Hou keyboard case, which includes a trackpad and a comfortable keyboard, though it’s showing some signs of wear after a couple of years.
If you’re considering a second-hand iPad Pro, I highly recommend the 11" model—it’s a worthwhile investment, though improved external monitor support would be a welcome upgrade.
Chapter 2: Audio Gear
For audio, I primarily use Google Pixel Buds Pro, which I find comfortable and equipped with great sound quality. They also feature multipoint Bluetooth, allowing simultaneous connection to my laptop and phone. During longer commutes or noisy train rides, I keep the SoundCore Liberty 4 NC earbuds handy due to their impressive active noise cancellation.
My go-to headphones are the Edifier WH950NB, which also offer excellent sound and noise cancellation, along with multipoint Bluetooth capabilities. When working in a bustling open office, I switch to the Jabra Evolve 2 30 SE headset, known for its comfort and decent noise-canceling microphone.

Section 2.1: Accessories and Gadgets
As a self-proclaimed gadget enthusiast, I always carry several accessories to enhance my work setup. My favorite mouse is the Logitech MX Master 3, which I use at my desk. For portability, I opted for the Logitech MX Anywhere 2, which I purchased second-hand.
Occasionally, I bring along a keyboard, specifically the Logitech K380, which allows me to switch between three devices easily. Recently, I added the BenQ LaptopBar to my gear; it’s a fantastic accessory for illuminating my workspace when working in dim light.
I also keep a few spare cables handy, including Micro-USB and USB-C for charging. My current mains charger is a basic Anker model, which features both USB-C and USB-A ports for charging multiple devices at once.
Final Thoughts
As a tech reviewer, my bag contents often change, but the items mentioned here are my most frequently used essentials. I plan to update this list every three to four months, as I love sharing and learning about new tech gear. I encourage everyone to share their own everyday carry or tech backpack contents in the comments!
