For the writing prompt on June 6th, we ponder: What is your favorite color, and how does it reflect in your life? Choosing a favorite has always been challenging for me. Is this a sign of indecisiveness, or is it an appreciation for variety? Perhaps it is a blend of both.
“Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose; won’t you let me go down in my dreams…” — James Taylor
What drives our fascination with favorites? Must we always select a top choice for everything? (Aside from today's writing prompt, of course.) If I declare blue as my favorite color, how can I be certain of which shade you're envisioning? Have you ever explored paint or nail polish sections? The number of blue shades can be overwhelming!
Indeed, Crayola presents around 37 variations within the blue spectrum, but some sources claim there are a staggering 260 shades of blue. This leads us into the realm of science, discussing how cones and rods in our eyes interpret the shorter wavelengths of light. However, let’s keep the joy of colors intact without diving too deep into science. (But if you're curious, you can explore more here.)
I am particularly attracted to blues, teal hues, and purplish-blues, as they evoke a sense of tranquility and natural beauty. I adore the sights and sounds of waterfalls, rain showers, thunderstorms, the ocean, and the striking contrast of white clouds against a brilliant blue sky. As an Aquarius, the water bearer, these elements resonate deeply with me.
My husband has captivating azure blue eyes that sparkle when he dons certain colors, while my feline companion also possesses enchanting blue eyes, always reflecting the same hues in her surroundings.

The various shades of blue instill a sense of calm within me. Amidst a fast-paced world, I often feel overwhelmed and cherish moments of tranquility. Blue embodies peace for me.
Nonetheless, I hold a deep appreciation for all colors. There’s a certain magic that unfolds when different colors blend, whether in painting, floral arrangements, or home decor. Every color has its unique place and purpose, much like us, contributing to the greater tapestry of existence.
White light encompasses the entire spectrum of colors, containing all wavelengths. Our planet thrives with a diverse array of plants, animals, bacteria, fungi, and ecosystems, all of which flourish through collaboration. Each element is essential to the whole.
Key Message: Colors reflect the richness of life on Earth—diverse, beautiful, and entirely interconnected.
