He eventually narrowed this list down to five categories: videos, software, hardware, compact discs, and books. Ultimately, he selected books as the most viable product for online sales, believing they were the easiest to market.
The concept of a minimal viable product (MVP) was crucial to his launch of Amazon—initially an online bookstore. An MVP is essentially the simplest, highest-quality content you can produce to start generating sales quickly. By selling his MVP, Bezos could gather revenue, customer insights, and feedback, which would allow him to refine his offerings.
