Chapter 1: Importance of Thumbnails in Video Promotion
In this article, we will delve into the significance of thumbnails and the best practices for sharing videos across social media platforms. My main concern revolves around the vast number of individuals who engage in unproductive behaviors online.
For example, in my experience, I used to share my YouTube videos across ten different Facebook groups. This led to a flood of absurd "sub to sub" requests from dishonest users. To combat this, we created a Facebook group with a select membership, allowing us to watch each other's videos. New members were admitted based on referrals. However, the group eventually dissolved, and I lost touch with those members.
1. Thumbnails
I typically utilize Canva for designing thumbnails and occasionally edit images with Adobe Firefly to steer clear of copyright issues. As you may know, the internet is flooded with copyrighted images, and it's crucial to avoid them.
If you’re an original content creator, I suggest using Unsplash for your thumbnail images. The importance of this title can be illustrated by the fact that people tend to be visually driven. Click-Through Rate (CTR) is a vital metric on YouTube, and my current CTR stands at 1.5.
Given the sheer volume of content on YouTube, it is essential for thumbnails to be visually striking, making it easier to automate your YouTube presence.

2. Understanding Social Media Group Dynamics
Next, let’s explore some unique corners of the internet that stand apart from the more dubious areas. After creating a new video, you’re ready to share it on social media. Generally, platforms like Telegram and Discord host promotion groups; however, YouTube considers traffic from Telegram to be less favorable. I recommend steering clear of creating groups on that platform.
When sharing your videos, you may find that users frequently comment phrases like “come to inbox” or “sub to sub.” These groups are often populated by users with low subscriber counts or agencies that sell services to gain 4000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers. (I will cover this topic in greater detail in a future article).
Sharing your video anonymously in these Facebook groups is advisable, as many users on platforms like Reddit prefer to remain anonymous. The same goes for Discord and Telegram.
Creating private groups can follow various strategies. For instance, you might consider creating an NFT to gain access to a group, or you could collaborate with a few individuals in existing social media groups to form your own. The choice is yours.
If we focus on freelancers, they often send friend requests and messages. It is crucial to maintain a professional page showcasing your work and portfolio to establish credibility.
