The Strange Case of the Pansini Brothers: A 1901 Mystery
Written on
Chapter 1: The Beginning of the Mystery
In 1901, a construction contractor named Mr. Mauro Pansini and his family relocated to a larger residence in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy, close to the town hall. Shortly after moving in, they began experiencing inexplicable paranormal events.
These occurrences involved objects moving, being thrown, and breaking spontaneously, resembling classic poltergeist activity.
Section 1.1: The Trances of Alfredo
The family's 7-year-old son, Alfredo Pansini, started entering trances, speaking in unfamiliar languages, and experiencing vivid visions. Concerned for his well-being, his father decided to send him to a seminary for guidance. After three years, the strange phenomena ceased, and Alfredo returned home, seemingly composed.
Subsection 1.1.1: The Return of the Phenomena
When Alfredo was 10, he returned to his family, but this time, the odd occurrences not only resumed but also began to involve his younger brother, Paolo, who was just 8 years old. The brothers would mysteriously vanish from their home, only to reappear in nearby towns just moments later, leaving their father in a constant state of worry.
Section 1.2: Disturbing Discoveries
On one occasion, the boys traveled over 30 kilometers to Malfatti, where they unexpectedly appeared before Father Vennetti at a Capuchin monastery. The bewildered priest contacted their family, puzzled by how the children had arrived in a trance-like state.
After returning home, their father locked the boys in a room, only to find them missing shortly thereafter, with the children knocking on their uncle's door 15 kilometers away. In a bewildering incident, a fisherman even reported seeing the boys materialize in his boat several kilometers out at sea near Baletta.
Chapter 2: Seeking Help
Desperate for answers, the family sought assistance from a Bishop in Bitonto. In an astonishing turn of events, the children vanished from the room while the bishop was present, leaving him stunned. Various specialists investigated the Pansini brothers but were unable to provide an explanation for their uncanny abilities, including Alfredo's talent for automatic writing while in a trance.
This case raises intriguing questions about the nature of time and space, particularly given that the first automobiles were just emerging, capable of reaching speeds over 100 km/h. Yet, even if someone had abducted the boys, it is unlikely they would have had access to such vehicles frequently. The perplexing phenomenon of their apparent dematerialization continues to baffle those who have studied the case.
